Join us for an inspiring evening celebrating Roshanak Morrowatian — award-winning choreographer, role model, and L’Okapi artist — as we explore the rich cultural roots that shape her artistic practice.
The night begins with a presentation by Iranian Composer & Event Producer Sheida Najafi, offering insights into the history and symbolism of the House of Strength tradition. This will be followed by an intimate Q&A with Roshanak, inviting reflection on the power of reimagining and revitalizing ancient rituals.
We’ll close the evening with a concert of Persian traditional music, featuring Arash on Tar (Persian long-necked lute) and Sepehr Farajian on Tombak (Persian hand drum).

Verhalen van mensen over hun mentale gezondheid blijven veelal in de taboesfeer. Deze theatervoorstelling is een samenstelling van persoonlijke levensverhalen. Geen gespeelde rollen, maar mensen die hun waargebeurde ervaringen met je delen; ervaringen van pijn, verdriet, geluk en vreugde.
Bijzondere verhalen van bijzondere mensen; ze geven een inkijkje in hun persoonlijke thema’s, maar houden ons ook een spiegel voor over maatschappelijke thema’s zoals eenzaamheid, kwetsbaarheid en de zoektocht naar jezelf kunnen zijn. De verhalen worden in artistieke vormen gepresenteerd. Denk hierbij aan een verhaal, een lied, muziek, toneel, gedicht.

15:55–16:15: Tribe Unleashed Q&A with Roshanak Morrowatian, Joanne Vertommen and Charlotte Haesen.
Alphabets of Flesh is a poetic exploration of the body in diaspora, choreographed and performed by Roshanak Morrowatian alongside dancer Mami Izumi (Rover company). Following the performance, L'Okapi offers the audience a chance to dive deeper into the creative process and themes such as diaspora, identity, and sense of belonging during the Tribe Unleashed Q&A (NL).
In de dansvoorstelling Alphabets of Flesh maakt choreograaf en danser Roshanak Morrowatian voelbaar hoe het is om een lichaam in diaspora te zijn. Samen met Mami Izumi verbeeldt zij de versplinterde ervaring van tijd en ruimte van mensen die hun geboorteland hebben verlaten. Na de voorstelling biedt L'Okapi het publiek de kans om dieper in te gaan op het creatieve proces en thema’s zoals diaspora, identiteit en verbondenheid tijdens de Tribe Unleashed Q&A (NL).
