We are all ears
Based on the universal language of music, the artistic vision of Charlotte Haesen, an accessible 'Mind the Music' approach and today’s mental health crisis, L’Okapi aims to make subjects like identity, self-expression, polarisation, depression and stigma discussible, visible, and tangible. In an engaging, playful and inclusive way. Together with everyone who wants to enjoy music, offer their support or share their experience. In doing so, creating awareness and contributing to the power of music and the increasing problems surrounding mental well-being. Inside and outside the music industry.
“Music knows no boundaries.
It is like a loyal friend who is always there for you. It can spark vivid memories, calm you down and motivate you. It brings people together, regardless of background.”

Our Compass for Impact
Based on model of The Trimbos Institute, a knowledge centre that conducts research in mental health and addictions in the Netherlands.
Let’s make it personal,
social, functional & perceptual
Music and mental well-being affect everyone and are inextricably linked to everyday life. But what exactly is music? And what do we mean by mental well-being? Answering either of these questions, let alone both, is often difficult and varies depending on who you ask and the context. However, when we bring the two together, we discover a rich, complex interaction that goes beyond the sum of its parts.
To work as creatively and impactfully as possible, L'Okapi focuses on four components: personal, social, functional and perceptual, hereby looking beyond mere numbers, target groups and stages.
Disclaimer: L'Okapi aims to enhance self-expression, connection, awareness and empowerment. L’Okapi does not offer medical advice, diagnose or propose treatment such as music therapy. To this end, we always mention consulting a GP and appropriate professional care.
